Match Pewter was founded in 1995 by designer David Reiss, who first introduced Italian pewter to the American market. The company is located in Jersey City, NJ. The collection includes more than 600 pieces, and is handmade in Northern Italy using pre-Renaissance methods. The alloy is food safe, lead free, and FDA approved.
In order to be considered pewter, the alloy must contain 91% tin. Match Pewter contains 95% tin. Pieces are stamped with up to four different stamps: "M" for Match, "95" for both the year the company was formed and the percentage of tin content, the lion emblem which is the company logo. In addition, pieces are often stamped by the factory in Italy which produced the piece.
All Match Pewter crystal pieces contain 24% lead.
