Fire & Light

Fire and Light is made in Northern California from recycled glass.  The company was founded in 1995 from a partnership between the Arcata Community Recycling Center (the oldest community recycling center in the nation) and a group of local artists and investors.

Recycled glass is crushed, or sand is used to start the process.  Then, special pigments are added, and the mixture is melted overnight.  Molten glass is poured into molds designed by Fire and Light, then each piece is hand finished by craftsmen using a special torch.  Each piece is made one at a time and takes three days from start to finish.  Seven of the nine colors they product contain more than 90% recycled glass.  Due to color sensitivity, no recycled glass is used in the Citrus color.

Place a piece of Fire and Light glassware on the table, and when the sun, light or candlelight hits it, you will see a dazzling display of color.  This is what makes the product so special.  Goblets and tumblers are great for cocktail parties – no wine charms needed!  And the Moonstone Platter is great for serving cakes, or add a small bowl and it becomes a fabulous chip and dip!  Lots of options to mix and match colors…
