A Brief History of R. Haviland & C. Parlon

Robert Haviland, an American born in New York in 1803, moved to France and joined the Limoges company founded by his brother.  In time, his son Charles married into a family of porcelain manufacturers that had been producing Limoge dinnerware since the late 1700s, and eventually acquired the company.

Charles's grandson Robert founded his own porcelain manufacturing business in 1924, following in the steps of his forebears.  Shortly before WWII, Camille Parlon, owner of another chinaware company, brought his expertise to Robert who soon acquired that factory as well.  Thus was born the name Robert Haviland & C. Parlon.

When Michel Ardant and Andre Parlon took over at the helm, they started reproducing antique pieces in collaboration with museum curators.  This resulted in their production of pieces for many museums around the world, and in 1984 they were invited to become members in the Comite Colbert, a select association for French luxury goods manufacturing.  Haviland & Parlon has developed signature collections for hotels, embassies, and royal families.  In 2011 the company was awarded the Enterprise du Patrimoine Vivant by the French State in recognition of their excellent and unique artisinal techniques.
