Mariposa was founded in 1984 by Livia Cowan. On a trip to Mexico with her sister, she discovered a love for crafts and returned home with a carload of recycled glass, using her parent’s garage as her shop. Thus began a passion for creating innovative products made from recycled materials.
Mariposa silver gifts are handmade in Mexico from 100% recycled aluminum. Glassware is made from recycled soda bottles. The company, headquartered in Massachusetts, is committed to sustainability and continually strives to improve operations to that end. Their key manufacturing partner in Mexico is a pioneer in sustainability, having been certified by their government as the first in the country to demonstrate environmental stewardship.
Unique, original design combines with superior artisanship to create the Mariposa aesthetic. Mariposa is committed to handmade crafts – because they’re better. As a result, each piece is individually made, making them unique with slight variations. They are polished to a high sheen and so add a touch of elegance to any table, yet are low maintenance and intended for everyday use. The company is also known for creating seasonal collections with a touch of whimsy.
WHY WE LOVE IT
