Richard Ginori Babele, in original blue or old world red, incorporates 4 different shapes - Antico Doccia, Duchessa, Venezia and Museo. The possibilities are endless to create a table that recalls things found and collected through the years. Like the Biblical reference, Babele is a sign of perfection and references the famous Tower of Babel. Flowers, masks, and coats of arms of Florentine families are the basis of decoration, inspired by the original service created in the 18th century using a "stampino" technique. Artisans first used paper, lambskin or thin copper plates with perforated surface placed on top of biscuit porcelain to imprint the design onto the surface, a process used for 16th century Medici porcelain production which was soft-paste porcelain. The original 18th century designs were produced under the direction of Marquis Carlo Ginori, and the first workers at the factory were farmers turned porcelain assistants who earned great acclaim and renown throughout Europe for their artistic skills.
