Simon Pearce Dinnerware and Flatware

Simon Pearce is also known for his casual, everyday dinnerware patterns.  The first craft he learned was from his father, a well-known potter in Ireland.  Belmont is his most enduring collection of pottery, hand finished in Vermont.  Simon Pearce also offers several wonderful flatware patterns, made in PRC, to compliment his dinnerware.

Simon Pearce History

Simon Pearce studied glassblowing at the Royal College of Art in London, and spent his youth traveling throughout Europe working in various glass studios before opening his first shop in Kilkenny.  In 1981, he moved his operation to Vermont to escape European business constraints and the high cost of energy.  He purchased a former woolen mill and renovated it, using the hydroelectric power of the river on which it is located to run the furnaces.  His headquarters remains there today, and is a popular tourist destination to see glass blowing demonstrations or to have a wonderful meal in the adjacent restaurant.   He also has a facility in Maryland where most glass is blown today.  The artisans who create his products apprentice for 2-5 years learning the handcrafting techniques he brought from Europe.
